In June 1999, on the occasion of the seventh edition of the Sighet Symposium, an Information Point of the Council of Europe dedicated to the struggle against intolerance, to advocating human rights and to supporting democracy was opened on the premises of the Memorial Museum. The opening of this Office by the Information Office of the Council of Europe in Bucharest comes as the continuation of FAC’s long-standing co-operation with the Council of Europe – one of the main current supporters of the Sighet Memorial project.
