- Commemorating 70 Years since the Deportations to the Bărăgan Plain. An event organised by the Mehedinți branch of the Romanian Association of Former Political Detainees (AFDPR), and the Iron Gates Museum – Drobeta Turnu Severin, 17 June
On 17 June, an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the deportations to the Bărăgan plain was held in Drobeta Turnu Severin by AFDPR Mehedinți and the Iron Gates Museum, featuring Mrs Ana Blandiana as a special guest. Ioana Boca represented the Sighet Memorial.
Before the event at the Iron Gates Museum, Ana Blandiana and Ileana Mateescu, president of AFDPR Mehedinți, met with the pupils of the local Traian Upper Secondary School.

On 18 June, the open-air ethnographic museum in Timișoara commemorated 70 years since the deportations to the Bărăgan plain. The event was organised by the Association of Former Deportees to the Bărăgan Plain from Timiș County and saw the participation of numerous former deportees, historians, central and local authorities, as well as journalists. His Eminence Ioan, Metropolitan of Banat, officiated a religious service. The message of the Sighet Memorial was presented by Ana Blandiana.
On this occasion, the Association of Former Deportees to the Bărăgan Plain from Timiș County awarded commemorative medals to people and institutions dedicated to preserving the memory of the victims of deportations. Ana Blandiana and Ioana Boca received medals on behalf of the Sighet Memorial.

On 26 June, the conference Commemorating 70 Years since the Deportations to the Bărăgan Plain was held in Bucharest, organised by the Museum of the Horrors of Communism, the Faculty of History, and the Memoria Foundation. During the conference, Ioana Boca presented the Sighet Memorial’s projects related to the remembrance of the deportations.
