simpozioane_simpozion_1994_celular_1_500A symposium with a theme oriented on recent history topics (“Forms and Mechanisms of Totalitarianism”, “The Romanian Peasant – Victim of Communist Repression”, “Oral History – A Chance to Redeem the Truth”) . Several historians took part on the symposium such as Dennis Deletant, Alicija Wancerz-Gluza, Virgil Tarau, Mihai Dorin, Marius Oprea and personalities who have experienced concentration camps as victims: Pascal Bentoiu, Ion Gavrila-Ogoranu, Mariuca Vulcanescu, Lia Lazar-Gherasim, Constantin Voicescu, Eugen Sahan, Constantin Ticu Dumitrescu.

The symposium title – a quote from Ana Blandiana – became the motto of the Memorial that was beginning to take shape.
