Researchers participated from Romania and 11 other countries. Alexandru Zub and Serban Papacostea, members of the Academy, and Dennis Deletant of London University facilitated the scientific sessions. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Mr. Daniel Tarschys conveyed a message on the occasion of the symposium. The organisation of the Sighet symposium was sponsored financially by two entities, namely the Council of Europe and the Hanns Seidel Foundation. On the same occasion, the films “Cazul Motrescu” by Nicolae Margineanu and “Grindul de exterminare de la Periprava” by Paul Prisada were shown for the very first time. Also, the actors Leopoldina Balanuta and Ovidiu Iuliu Moldovan recited a poems from prisons’ poetry.
