Second meeting in the framework of the W-Child project, Prague, January 2020

The second meeting of the project BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. GROWING UP UNDER TOTALITARIAN REGIMES / GROWING UP IN WARTIME was held in Prague in January 2020.

The project partners entered into dialogue with young people from the Czech Republic. Discussions on the project and meetings with witnesses were held on this occasion.

W-Child – Behind Closed Doors. Growing Up Under Totalitarian Regimes / Growing Up in Wartime is an EU funded project within the Europe for Citizens – European Remembrance programme. The project brings together four organisations from four countries affected by wars and/or totalitarian regimes during the 20th century: URBAN Association (Bosnia and Herzegovina) as the lead partner, the Civic Academy Foundation – Memorial to the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance (Romania), the ATRIUM Association (Italy) and Post Bellum (Czech Republic). The project aims to encourage young people in the four countries – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Italy and the Czech Republic – to reflect upon how totalitarian regimes in Europe and armed conflicts in Bosnia have affected the lives of children, to realise how brutal these systems were, to understand and appreciate the benefits and rights that a peaceful and democratic Europe has to offer, and to commemorate and pass on the stories of the victims.
