On 10 September 2003, the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC organised a special evening dedicated to the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance in Sighet. Among the participants were Dr. Eliot Sorel, Professor at the George Washington University and Romulus Rusan, Director of the Centre for the Study of Communism, who presented the Sighet Memorial to the American public and answered many questions. A film about the Sighet Memorial was also shown.
