The room is dedicated to the wider anti-communist movement that spontaneously sprang up in Maramureş between 1947 and 1960. Groups of partisans and their sustainers from all social categories (peasants, priests, foresters, functionaries, students, schoolchildren) withdrew to the mountains and put up armed resistance to Securitate troops. The portraits of those few hundred fighters stand as witness. The firmness and dignity that their portraits emanate are impressive. Many are wearing prisoner fatigues, even if the photographs were taken during interrogation, before they were convicted.
